why ~ because it's that time of year, when these cool architectural beauties start blooming and brightening up the hills of sausalito (and other bay area coastal areas) with their electric blue/purple color. the flowering spires can get quite large - like up to 6' - and they can look sort of other-worldly. these showy babes are about to be in their full glory. spring in almost here!
