about a month ago we had the opportunity to spend an afternoon in the beautiful gardens of the historic estate, filoli. we're lucky enough to have a friend who works and lives on the property, so we had the distinct pleasure of receiving an after-hours private tour of the gardens. the gardens of filoi are always lovely but at this time of year, with all that's in bloom, they're particularly spectacular. we started out with a little picnic at our friend's home and then continued on to the jaw dropping gardens, where the afternoon light was perfect for photo taking.
tulips were abundant in the gardens and the vibrant coral color of these (above) seemed almost unreal!
the peonies were yet in full bloom but i did find a couple of beauties (below).
it was an afternoon filled with good food, wonderful friends and absolutely gorgeous gardens. not too shabby of a way to fill our sunday.
